A comforting and flavorful Chicken Parmesan recipe featuring crispy, breaded chicken topped with gooey mozzarella and rich marinara sauce.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko works well for extra crunch)
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese (for the topping)
  • Fresh basil leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). While the oven is heating, pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season them with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Place the flour on a large plate. In a shallow bowl, whisk the eggs. On another plate, combine the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
  3. Dredge each chicken breast first in flour, shaking off the excess. Next, dip it into the egg, ensuring it’s fully coated. Finally, press it into the breadcrumb mixture, covering both sides well.
  4. Heat ¼ cup of olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through, about 165°F (74°C).
  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the chicken in the skillet, then sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven. Bake for about 15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and enjoy your Chicken Parmesan hot!

Notes

For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes after baking for juiciness.
