A comforting classic apple pie with juicy, cinnamon-spiced apples in a flaky homemade crust, perfect for gatherings or cozy evenings.

Ingredients

  • 2 pie crusts (store-bought or homemade)
  • 6-8 apples (such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix for varied taste)
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Peel, core, and thinly slice the apples.
  3. Mix the sliced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  4. Assemble the pie with one crust in a pie dish and fill with the apple mixture.
  5. Top with the second crust, sealing and fluting the edges.
  6. Apply the egg wash on top of the crust.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes, then reduce to 350°F (175°C) for 30-40 minutes.
  8. Cool the pie for at least 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Use a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor. Ensure even apple slices and keep the dough cold for a flaky crust.
