These Easy Halloween Deviled Eggs are a fun twist on a classic appetizer, perfect for Halloween gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups water
  • 8 drops of red food coloring
  • 8 hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 or 2 large red tomatoes (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare colored water: In a bowl, mix the water and red food coloring. Stir well until the color is consistent.
  2. Crack the egg shells: Use a spoon to gently crack the hard-boiled eggs all over. Be careful not to break them fully.
  3. Soak eggs: Place the cracked eggs in the bowl of colored water. Refrigerate for 2 hours, turning them halfway through if they are not fully submerged.
  4. Peel eggs: Carefully remove the eggs from the colored water, dry them off, and peel the shells.
  5. Halve the eggs: Gently cut the eggs in half lengthwise.
  6. Make the filling: Scoop out the yolks into a food processor. Add the Dijon mustard, mayonnaise, smoked paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Blend until smooth and creamy.
  7. Pipe the filling: Transfer the yolk mixture into a piping bag and pipe it into the cavities of the egg whites.
  8. Prepare tomato shapes: Use a very sharp knife to cut thin slices of tomato peel into arrow shapes for the tails and triangles for the horns.
  9. Garnish: Press the tomato shapes into the yolk mixture to create your spooky decorations.

Notes

Use week-old eggs for easier peeling, and feel free to get creative with the colors for Halloween.
