Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 can tuna
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Salt to taste
  • Nori (seaweed) sheets
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the sushi rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice in a pot with water for about 30 minutes.
  3. Cook the rice by bringing the pot to a boil, then reducing heat and simmering for about 20 minutes.
  4. Prepare the filling by mixing tuna with mayonnaise and salt in a bowl.
  5. Cool the rice slightly after cooking to handle it easily.
  6. Shape the rice by wetting your hands, flattening rice in your palm, and adding a spoonful of the tuna mixture.
  7. Form the rice into a triangle shape around the filling.
  8. Wrap with strips of nori around the base of each Onigiri.
  9. Add sesame seeds if desired.
  10. Serve immediately or wrap for later enjoyment.

Notes

Use sushi rice for best texture; short-grain rice can be a substitute. Ensure the rice is rinsed thoroughly and soaked for optimal cooking.
