These Spicy Garlic Shrimp Tacos combine tender shrimp with a zesty garlic marinade, all wrapped in warm tortillas for a flavorful twist on traditional tacos.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 8 small corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded cabbage (green or purple)
  • 1 avocado, sliced
  • ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Lime wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the minced garlic, chili powder, smoked paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, olive oil, and lime juice.
  2. Marinate the Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the marinade, ensuring they are evenly coated. Let them sit for about 10 minutes while you prepare the toppings.
  3. Cook the Shrimp: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.
  4. Warm the Tortillas: In a separate pan, toast the tortillas over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until warm and slightly crispy.
  5. Assemble the Tacos: Place a portion of shrimp on each tortilla. Top with shredded cabbage, avocado slices, and chopped cilantro.
  6. Serve: Squeeze fresh lime juice over the tacos and serve immediately with lime wedges on the side.

Notes

Look for shrimp that are firm and fresh. Avoid overcooking to maintain tenderness. Customize seasoning to your taste.
